Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about collecting with Mahanaim.

Buying & payment

Are all works on the site originals?

Yes. Unless explicitly marked as a limited-edition print, every work listed is a unique original. Medium, dimensions, year, and condition are described on each product page.

What does “Price on request” mean?

Some works — particularly large-scale pieces and commissions — are priced on application. Click the Enquire link on the artwork page and we will reply with a current price, availability, and any additional images you need.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards through our secure Stripe checkout. For high-value acquisitions we also offer payment by bank transfer or an instalment plan by prior arrangement. Contact us to discuss.

Is my payment secure?

Absolutely. Payment is processed by Stripe, a PCI Level 1 certified payment processor. We never see or store your full card details.

Do you offer instalment payments?

For works above a certain value we can arrange interest-free instalments over 2–4 months. Email us with the work you are interested in and we will confirm whether an instalment plan is available.

Shipping & delivery

Where do you ship?

We ship worldwide. All works travel with specialist fine-art couriers and are fully insured, nail-to-nail, for the entire journey. See our Shipping & Insurance page for full details and estimated timelines.

How long does delivery take?

  • UK — 3–7 business days (standard).
  • Europe — 5–10 business days.
  • US & Canada — 10–15 business days.
  • Rest of world — 10–21 business days.

Express and white-glove options are available at checkout.

Will I have to pay customs duties or taxes?

Import duties and local taxes vary by country and are the buyer's responsibility. Original artworks typically attract a reduced or zero duty rate in most jurisdictions. We provide all export documentation and can estimate likely charges before you purchase — just ask.

How is the work packaged?

Every piece is custom-packed to museum-transit standards: acid-free tissue, rigid edge guards, foam corners, and double- or triple-wall outer box. Large or fragile works ship in a bespoke wooden crate.

Authenticity & provenance

Does the work come with a certificate of authenticity?

Yes. Every work ships with a signed Certificate of Authenticity that forms part of its provenance. It includes the artist's name, title, medium, dimensions, year, and the gallery's authentication seal.

What if the authenticity of a work is later questioned?

We stand behind every work we sell. If the authenticity of a piece is credibly challenged within ten years of sale, we will refund the purchase price in full on return of the work and certificate. See our Returns Policy for details.

Can I see a condition report before buying?

Yes. Click the Enquire link on any artwork page and request a condition report. We will send one along with any additional photographs you need.

Returns & refunds

Can I return an original artwork?

Original artworks are unique goods and are not returnable under standard consumer cancellation rights. However, if a work arrives damaged in transit or materially differs from its description, we will arrange a return and full refund. See our Returns Policy.

What if the work arrives damaged?

Inspect the work on arrival. If there is any damage, email us within 72 hours with photographs of the packaging and the work. We handle the insurance claim, arrange collection, and offer a full refund or replacement.

Can I cancel an order before it ships?

Yes. Contact us as soon as possible. If the work has not yet been dispatched, we will cancel the order and issue a full refund.

Commissions & artists

Can I commission a bespoke work through the gallery?

Yes. We regularly facilitate commissions between collectors and our represented artists. The process begins with a conversation about your vision, space, and budget. Commission relationships are governed by a formal agreement that covers milestones, approvals, and payment terms.

I'm an artist — how do I submit my work?

We are always interested in discovering new voices. Please email hello@mahanaim.gallery with a selection of images, your CV or biography, and a short artist statement. We review every submission and will respond within two weeks.

General

Can I view works in person before purchasing?

We welcome viewings by appointment. Contact us with the work(s) you are interested in and we will arrange a suitable time. For collectors unable to visit, we offer video walk-arounds and detailed condition photography.

Do you offer art advisory or interior placement services?

Yes. Bili and the team regularly advise private collectors, corporate collections, embassies, and interior designers on acquisitions, placement, and bespoke commissions. Email us to start a conversation.

I have a question not covered here.

We are happy to help. Email hello@mahanaim.gallery and we will respond within one business day.
